‘The Lion King’ Is Coming to the Hollywood Bowl for ‘The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-To-Film Concert Event’
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Lion King, a special live-to-film concert/screening is coming to the Hollywood Bowl next month.
The shows will take place on May 24 and 25. They will be produced by Disney Concerts, Fulwell 73 Productions, AMP Worldwide, and Live Nation-Hewitt Silva.

Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event will feature a full orchestra performing Hans Zimmer’s Oswar-winning score. Cast members from both the original film, the Broadway adaptation, and the 2019 CGI remake will also perform the film’s musical numbers written by Elton John and Tim Rice.
A Star-Studded Affair
Among those expected to reprise their roles from the original 1994 film are Jeremy Irons (Scar), Nathan Lane (Timon), Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa), and Jason Weaver (Young Simba). They will be joined by Bradley Gibson (Simba in the Broadway production of the show) and Billy Eichner (Timon in the 2019 remake).

Joining these Lion King veterans will be Jennifer Hudson. The singer and actress famously performed “The Circle of Life” during her time on American Idol.

According to representatives for the concerts, other performers will be drawn from the current version of the stage production and include a full choir. The costumes, set design, and puppetry will be borrowed from the Broadway touring version.
Tickets on Sale This Week
Tickets for Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. American Express cardholders will get a special presale beginning tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Interestingly, Disney and Fulwell 73 previously worked together for Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium and Disney’s Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl. Both of those productions were eventually turned into a Disney+ special.

At this time, however, a filmed version of the concert has not been announced.
