Disney Announces ANOTHER Korean Series For Disney+
Just two months after unveiling its beefed-up Korean slate, Disney+ announced today that another new South Korean series will be hitting the platform next year.
Titled Low Life, the series will star Ryu Seungryon and Yang Sejong. The show will be set in the 1970s and follows the story of a fisherman who discovers a lost treasure at the bottom of the ocean.

After the fisherman brings a small portion of the treasure back, word begins to spread around his village that the rest of the treasure is waiting for those who would be brave enough to risk the ocean depths.
Desperate to change his fortunes, Oh Heedong (Yang) partners with his uncle to attempt to reach the treasure before anyone else.
Disney+ Has Prioritized Original Korean Content
While Disney+ has been cutting back original production in Southeast Asia, the streamer has prioritized original content in Korea and Japan. Today’s announcement is just the latest example of Disney’s push in those territories.

In February, Disney+ announced it was adding four new Korean-language original series to its already stacked 2024 calendar.
In addition to the third season of The Zone: Survival Mission and the previously announced Uncle Samsik and Light Shop, the streamer added Blood Free, Unmasked, The Tryrant, and Gangnam B-Side to its slate.

Low Life will be released internationally on Disney+ and streaming on Hulu in the United States. While there is no official release date yet, the new series will premiere at some point next year.
