Man Sues Disney After Magic Kingdom Ferry Boat Crashes Into Dock, Sends Him Flying Into Trash Can
A Florida man is suing Disney after his trip to the Magic Kingdom, which was ruined when a ferry boat he was on crashed into the dock and sent him to fall into a trash can.
Justin Tripp filed a suit on Monday over an incident that occurred on April 27, 2023.
In his filing, Tripp claimed that Disney Cast Members told him he would have to stand on the ferry as it traveled from the Ticket and Transportation Center to the Magic Kingdom, as the ferry was “so crowded with passengers.”
The Ferry Crashed and Sent Tripp Flying
As the ferry approached the docking area, it allegedly “did not slow down” before it struck the dock at an “unsafe and high rate of speed, causing passengers to be thrown out.”
Tipp says he was then thrown into a steel pillar and hit his neck and head before he fell into a trash can. The pillar “prevented him from possibly being thrown overboard,” according to the suit.
The lawsuit alleges that Disney Cast Members did not properly warn passengers that a collision with the dock was imminent. Thus, he says, Disney breached its duty.
Tripp Is Seeking More Than $50,000 in Damages
After the fall, Tripp alleges that he suffered several head injuries, including bodily injury to his neck and head and other parts of his body, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment, loss of earnings, loss of the ability to earn money and aggravation of a previously existing condition.”
Tripp is demanding judgment for compensatory damages in excess of $50,000.
Disney has not commented on the suit.
