New Menu Items at Mama Melrose’s
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano is a table service restaurant located in the Grand Avenue section of Hollywood Studios (the area that’s themed to The Muppets!).
The restaurant specializes in Italian food with a California twist. You can expect a cozy atmosphere with familiar Italian-American dishes, like Spaghetti & Meatballs or Tiramisú.
And today, some new and modified food items are joining the menu, so we’re here to check them out! Our waitress told us that they took a lot of feedback from guests to heart which is why the menu has changed. Let’s go see how everything is!

There are several new or updated appetizers on the menu. First up, we have the House Garlic Bread, which comes with a roasted garlic spread, parmesan, and marinara sauce for $10. Previously, this was just called the House Bread.
We absolutely loved this! The bread was crispy where it should be, the cheese was gooey, and the marinara went perfectly with it.
Next is a new dish — the Tomato Bruschetta for $14. This has heirloom tomatoes, pickled fennel, grilled scallion, and herb crostini.
This was very fresh and light. The tomatoes have a nice pop to them! The textures all compliment each other well and it’s overall a refreshing appetizer option.
We also got the new Burrata Salad, which has marinated tomatoes, fresh pistou, crouton crumble, balsamic, and fresh lemon for $14.
The cheese here is very soft and fresh and the tomatoes are perfectly ripe. You definitely get a lot of pesto flavor as well, which goes great with everything!
The balsamic adds another layer of flavor that works well here. This is a great version of a Caprese salad!
Another new appetizer we tried is the Mushroom, Artichoke, Cheese Dip which comes with goat cheese, tomatoes, and toasted crostini for $14.
This was very tangy thanks to that goat cheese! There is a lot of good flavor between the cheese, artichokes, and mushrooms.
We also love the texture that comes from the cheese being broiled, and the crostini are nice and crispy — perfect for dipping!
Also note that the Fried Mozzarella Sticks are new to the menu. These come with marinara sauce and lemon aïoli for $15.
Previously, there was Fresh Fried Mozzarella on the menu, which came with two pieces on a bed of marinara sauce. This new version is not fresh mozzarella, but closer to the traditional mozzarella sticks you usually see on casual restaurant menus.
The new dish comes with 5 mozzarella sticks and is more kid friendly than the previous dish since it’s finger food. This is a much more cost-friendly item for Disney to make, since regular mozzarella sticks are cheaper to produce than ones with fresh mozzarella (but you’re still being charged $15!).
Finally, there is a new Marinated Olives appetizer with orange, chili flakes, and herbs for $8.
Moving on to the entrees, there are several new options. The first is the Rigatoni Bolognese, which comes with ground beef, Italian sausage, and parmesan for $26.
This had a little bit of spice to it, but it wasn’t overwhelming at all. The pasta was cooked well and the bolognese is very flavorful — it reminded us of a homemade Sunday dinner!
The next new entree is the Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp. This is pasta, cheese sauce, and fresh basil for $32. There used to be a similar dish on the menu with Campanelle pasta and more veggies.
This new version of the dish is really good — it has a ton of cheesiness! This pasta is also cooked perfectly and the shrimp are fresh and flavorful.
Another new entree is the Braised Pork Osso Bucco. This comes with creamy polenta, roasted cipollini onions, sweet peppers, and lemon gremolata for $30.
The meat was tender enough to fall off the bone! We didn’t even need a knife.
The lemon gremolata served on top really brightens this dish up and balances out the richness of the pork. The polenta was super creamy and went well with everything else. We’d definitely get this one again!
We also got the new Prosciutto and Honey Pizza that has parmesan, ham, and red chili flakes for $22.
Unfortunately, this was our least favorite of the new dishes we tried. The crust was too chewy and had a little too much flour on it. There are also two different kinds of ham on here — the prosciutto and regular ham — which made it a bit too salty!
The other two new entrees on the menu are the Mushroom and Goat Cheese Pizza (with caramelized onions and watercress for $21) and the Chef Selection of Fresh Fish (with a chef selection of accompaniments at Market Price). Previously, the latter dish was sustainable fish and now it will be listed as grouper.
And last but not least, we have some new desserts on the menu! This is the Goat Cheese Mousse Tart which is topped with honeycomb and an edible flower and served with blackberries and a cassis compote for $10.
We thought this was good! It was very tangy from the goat cheese and our waitress even told us that Greek yogurt was added to this as well, which brought a lot of great flavor.
We also tried the new Pasticciotti Cream Tart, which is a house-made tart with pastry cream and frangipane dusted with powdered sugar and served with an Amarena cherry compote for $10.
This was pretty tasty! It’s very creamy and the tart cherry compote goes well with the sweet cream of the tart.
And note that the Flourless Chocolate Cake on the menu has been updated — it was previously a small cake and now it’s being served as a slice. This is an almond flour chocolate cake paired with vanilla gelato and blood orange sauce for $10.
Overall, these are some great additions and modifications to the menu! Some things were misses, but we really enjoyed almost everything we tried.
Stay tuned for more Disney World news and updates!
