The Norway Pavilion’s Iconic Stave Church Is Undergoing Roof Construction
If you are a frequent reader here at MickeyBlog, then you know that we absolutely love the Norway pavilion in EPCOT.
Long before the arrival of Frozen, Norway was one of World Showcase’s most popular pavilions, thanks in no small part to the Maelstrom attraction. Since 1984, however, the pavilion has been home to one of the EPCOT’s most iconic structures- the Stave Church.
Based on the Gol Stave Church in Norway, which dates back to 1212, the EPCOT church has been one of World Showcase’s most recognizable icons for years.
Today, when visiting the Norway pavilion, however, we noticed that construction is being performed on the iconic building’s roof!
The Stave Church Is Getting a New Roof
For those who don’t know, the Norway pavilion’s Stave Church currently houses the Gods of the Vikings exhibit that displays authentic Viking artifacts.
As you can see, however, work is currently being done on the Stave Church’s roof and entrance.
It looks like Disney is replacing some of the roofing.
Here is the current look at the front of the building. As you can see, the construction is focused on this section.
While we don’t know how long the Stave Church construction will last, it doesn’t appear to be overly extensive.
With the Norway pavilion celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, it is no wonder that the Stave Church could use a touch-up.
Hopefully, the work will be finished completely, and the church will be back in all its glory!
