Following Today’s Settlement, Both Disney and the CFTOD Sound Ready to Work Together
Following today’s bombshell announcement that The Walt Disney Company had reached a settlement with the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) that will see the end of the battle between the Company and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, both sides have taken a conciliatory tone.

“We are pleased to put an end to all litigation pending in state court in Florida between Disney and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District,” he said. “This agreement opens a new chapter of constructive engagement with the new leadership of the district and serves the interest of all parties by enabling significant continued investment and the creation of thousands of direct and indirect jobs and economic opportunities in the State.”
The CFTOD Says They Are “Eager” To Work with Disney
So far, the CFTOD has echoed Vahle’s statements and affirmed that they are eager to work with Disney.
“With this settlement, which is complete and significant, we are eager to work with Disney,” said Charbel Barakat, vice chair of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District’s Board of Supervisors.

While we have not yet heard from Ron DeSantis (he is holding a press conference at 12:30 pm ET), his Communications Director, Bryan Griffin, released a statement.
“No corporation should be its own government,” he began.
“Moving forward, we stand ready to work with Disney and the District to help promote economic growth, family-friendly tourism, and accountable government in Central Florida.”

With the CFTOD voting to approve the terms of the settlement and Disney set to accept the new power structure in Central Florida, the battle between Disney and DeSantis may finally be at an end.
