Disney+ Shares Exciting New Trailer for ‘Doctor Who’
Do we have any Whovians in the house? If so, strap in for some good news, as we’ve got an exciting new trailer to blast you right back to the TARDIS.
As they say, “Your cosmic joyride awaits.” Let’s check it out!
But first, let’s travel back in time a bit. It’s only appropriate, after all!
In October 2022, it was announced that Disney+ would become the new international home of Doctor Who, offering viewers around the world the ability to stream the long-running BBC series as part of the Disney platform. A few months before this, in May 2022, it was revealed that the ultra-charismatic actor Ncuti Gatwa would step into the lead role, becoming the new Doctor.
For Whovians, this alone was a wild series of announcements — and we’re not even going to talk about all that went off during the anniversary specials that have aired since then!
So, with the announcement that Doctor Who would be expanding its roots, questions over the development of the series swiftly became the talk of the town. Sure, the Doctor Who appeal and cult following is huge already — but to be advertised by a company like Disney on a major international scale? Surely, this could only mean we’re to expect bigger, better, and just…more. Right?
Well, it looks like we’re finally getting an answer. This week, Disney has shared a brand-new trailer for the upcoming series, set to premiere this spring. The two-minute-long video includes everything from dystopia to dancing to dinosaurs — and we can’t get enough of it!
Wanna see for yourself? Check it out here:
Featuring Gatwa as the Doctor and Millie Gibson as his companion, the trailer has already teased so much for viewers to expect from the coming season.
Guest stars including Callie Cooke, Anita Dobson, Yasmin Finney, Michelle Greenidge, Bonnie Langford, Jinkx Monsoon, Jemma Redgrave, Lenny Rush, and Angela Wynter will all feature, and we also get a good glimpse of Indira Varma as the Duchess in this trailer, too. If you’ve been following the news of the series, you’ll know you can also expect some other exciting faces to pop up throughout the series as well!
In terms of space- and time-traveling adventures, the trailer hints at voyages to Regency-era England, the groovy 1960s, prehistoric times, and, of course, the intriguing distant futures. There’s a lot to look forward to!
So, when can we expect the new series of Doctor Who to land?

Well, if you’re in the US (or anywhere else in the world, for that matter,) it’ll blast onto Disney+ on Friday, May 10th, at 7pm ET / 4pm PT. You’ll get two all-new episodes, as well as the 2023 Christmas Special episode, “The Church on Ruby Road.”
If, like myself, you’re in the UK, you can still rely on the good old Beeb, with the two new episodes streaming at midnight on Saturday, May 11th on iPlayer. If you want the nostalgia of watching live, the episodes will also air that evening on BBC One.
Because of time differences, this means the UK and US will be getting a simultaneous global launch, whether you’re streaming on Disney+ or the BBC platforms.
