Disney Legend Jonathan Groff Will Appear in Latest Season of ‘Doctor Who’
We’ve got some exciting news for Disney and Doctor Who fans! Disney Legend Jonathan Groff will appear in the new season of BBC’s Doctor Who. The show began in 1963 and follows the adventures of a Time Lord known simply as “The Doctor” who is an extraterrestrial being with a human appearance. He travels the universe in a time-traveling phone booth called the Tardis.
As of going to print we don’t know what Groff’s roll will be but according to a recent piece in Variety, it is a mysterious and exciting guest role.
Disney fans know Groff as the voice of Kristoff in Disney’s beloved Frozen films for which eventually led to his induction as a Disney Legend along with co-stars Josh Gad, Idina Menzel, and Kristen Bell.
Groff also played the role of King George III in Hamilton which also streamed on Disney+ and for which Groff was nominated for a Tony Award.
The series returns in November with David Tennant back in the role as The Doctor with three episodes that will celebrate the show’s 60th Anniversary.
“Doctor Who” will premiere exclusively on the BBC for the U.K. and Ireland. Disney+ will be the exclusive home for new seasons of “Doctor Who” outside of the U.K. and Ireland.
