‘Lilo and Stitch’ Star Gives Fans an Idea of What to Expect in Live-Action Remake
While the fate of several Disney live-action remakes remains unclear following recent shakeups at the studio, one film that we know is in production is Lilo and Stitch.
The upcoming remake of the 2002 animated series will star Maia Kealoha, Zach Galifianakis, and Billy Magnussen and will tell the story of “the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who is engineered to be a force of destruction. Pursuing aliens, social workers, and the idea of the bond of family figure into the proceedings.”
Originally announced in 2018, filming was underway last year when the SAG-AFTRA strike halted production. Still, unlike Bambi or The Sword and the Stone, Lilo and Stitch will see the light of day.
Billy Magnussen Talks ‘Lilo and Stitch’
In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Magnussen gushed about the upcoming film, expressing his excitement about being part of the cast and giving fans an idea of what to expect.
“I adored working with everyone in this. Rideback was the producing house making this film, and I did Aladdin with them,” he began.
“Again, it’s a story about connection, and a kid trying to find a friend, and all you can do is approach a project like that with love. I am so grateful and honored to be a part of that project.”
While we do not have a release date for Lilo and Stitch, the film is expected to bypass theaters and go straight to Disney+.
