Bold Refurbishment Underway in Morocco at EPCOT
Honestly. Just as we finally see the back of some construction walls at the EPCOT World Showcase, another load pops up in a different pavilion!
We’re here in Morocco where some rather tall scrim has just been erected right in the center of the area. Come with us to check it out and to figure out just what’s going on over there!
Magical Morocco
If you’ve ever taken the time to explore Morocco in the World Showcase, you’ll no doubt agree it’s one of the most intricate and spectacular pavilions. Meticulously designed in collaboration with authentic Moroccan artisans, the whole area breathes life, culture, and artistry — making it no surprise at all that it has become a fan-favorite site for snapping wanderlust-inducing photos in EPCOT.
So, it’s understandably kind of annoying to see the area taken over by scrim and construction walls like this!
As you can see from these photos, the center of the pavilion now features a tall wall of scaffolding masked by scrim, with blank panels fencing off the lower area.
Unfortunately, we can’t say for sure what’s going on here, but we’d imagine that the work might include some regular maintenance and upkeep of that beautiful pavilion architecture!
It’s Trying Hard Not to Be an Eyesore
Many Disney Parks fans will no doubt be familiar with the color concept “Go-Away Green,” a special shade used on scrim and construction walls, designed to blend in and not detract aesthetically from its surroundings.
Here, we’re seeing an example of Disney not using this shade and instead opting for a sandy shade to blend in with the gray-brown hues of the pavilion. Green certainly would stick out like a sore thumb in this area!
Another feature we’re grateful for is the use of a sweet, inspirational sign on the walls, to add a bit of life and magic to the area. If you’ve been following MickeyBlog, you may have seen a series of these signs already appear in different areas across Walt Disney World!
Sponsored by PPG Paints, each sign features a sweet and unique Disney quote. This one in Morocco features a bit of Mulan wisdom!
Beneath a cute graphic of Mushu, the quote reads “We started this thing together, and that’s how we’ll finish it.”
So lovely!
A Work in Progress
Other than the slight eyesore they’ve created, we’re happy to say that these refurbishment efforts are currently not affecting the Morocco pavilion and its offerings in any way.
Adjusted walkways have been created to help guests walk through the scaffolding and access the rest of the pavilion, the stores, dining locations, and other offerings are all still available.
However, we’re keen to see the work completed soon, to hopefully restore this beautiful pavilion back to its usual, scaffolding-free self.
