Work Continues on Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Magic Kingdom
If you have been following along here at MickeyBlog, then you know that Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in the Magic Kingdom has been undergoing a refurbishment as of late.
A staple of Liberty Square, Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe opened in 1996 when it replaced Olde World Antiques, the Silversmith shop, and Mlle. Lafayette’s Perfumerie. Since that time, the store has delighted guests by celebrating Christmas 365 days a year, selling all kinds of fun Disney holiday souvenirs.
Beginning late last year, however, Disney started to systematically refurbish the store’s exterior.
The Latest Construction Update
While the front of the store is no longer covered in a scrim, work is continuing around the side.
As you can see, the middle building is still covered in a tarp as the painting continues. Looking at the current state of Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, you can clearly see that the location used to be three separate shops!
Currently, it is the old Olde World Antiques shop facade that is getting work done.
Finally, while inspecting the latest construction, it looks like Disney has built a new exterior staircase. While it seems unlikely that this will be for guest use, it is still an interesting addition to the facade.
So there you have it! Hopefully, the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe construction will conclude soon, and the store will be back to looking better than ever!
