Typhoon Lagoon’s “Leaking Water” Effect Turned On For The First Time Since 2020
Typhoon Lagoon has officially reopened at Disney World after its yearly seasonal refurbishment, and needless to say, the park looks great.
While Disney took the downtime to refresh the water park attractions, create a new Stitch Typhoon Lagoon collection, and maybe even come up with a new treat or two, Imagineers also managed to fix one of the park’s iconic special effects that has been turned off for years.
A Typhoon Lagoon Special Effect Is Back
If you have ever been to Typhoon Lagoon, you know that the heart of the park is the Surf Pool, located at the base of Mt. Mayday.
With waves that can get as large as six feet, the pool has been the signature attraction of Typhon Lagoon since it opened in 1989.
Eagle-eye visitors may have noticed, however, that the “leaking water” effect at the far end of the Surf Pool has been turned off since 2020. Previously, the artificial barricade that seemed to be holding the water back would gush water down as if it was about to burst.
The special effect did not really change the overall experience of the Surf Pool. It did, however, tie into Mt. Gushmore’s theming and add a sense of foreboding to the experience.
Well, I am happy to report that after a four-year absence, water is once again leaking out of the barricade and pouring down into the wave pool.
Here is another look at the effect in action!
While the leaking water effect may not seem like a big deal, it is just the kind of detail that separates Typhoon Lagoon from other water parks. I, for one, am thrilled to see it working again!
