How to Watch All the 2024 Oscars Coverage on ABC
It’s almost time for the best night of the year — the Oscars! Okay, as someone who is very into awards shows, I’m definitely biased, but c’mon — it’s the Super Bowl of award shows (or, if you’re like me, it’s just your actual Super Bowl).
This year is the 96th annual Academy Awards and the ceremony is taking place on March 10th. The show is once again airing on ABC, and we’ve got your full guide to the show right here.
Full Guide to the 96th Oscars
Disney has very kindly released a guide to The Oscars this year, and we’re going to break it down for you! First of all, know that the show (which is being hosted by Jimmy Kimmel again) airs on ABC at 7PM ET and 4PM PT on March 10th.
Pre-Show Fun
But what about the pre-show stuff leading up to the event, like the red carpet? Well, starting tonight (March 8th), Linsey Davis will anchor a special edition of ABC News Live Prime live from the red carpet.
Then, on Good Morning America, Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel will be interviewed and so will Wolfgang Puck, who is creating the menu for the Governors Ball (the post-Oscars celebration).
The Saturday and Sunday broadcasts of GMA will be live from Hollywood!
On Sunday, ABC News will be broadcasting Countdown to Oscars: On the Red Carpet Live! starting at 1PM ET/10AM PT. This will be streaming on ABC News Live and continue until the start of the show.
Local red carpet coverage will also begin on Sunday at 1PM ET/10AM PT with Countdown to Oscars: On The Red Carpet Live and will continue at 4PM ET/1PM PT with On The Red Carpet at the Oscars. You can watch all of this on ABC or stream each of the pre-shows live at OnTheRedCarpet.com or On the Red Carpet’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
At 6:30PM ET/3:30PM PT, Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough will host The Oscars Red Carpet Show on ABC, which is the official lead-in to the 96th Oscars. This 30-minute special will highlight the nominees, performers, and presenters for the night and give a multi-view experience of the red carpet.
If you want even more Oscars coverage, you can go to the new Oscars On the Red Carpet Encore Unlocked Channel to see memorable moments from past years. It can be streamed for free 24/7—with no sign-in needed—in the ABC app or on ABC.com.
The Oscars Ceremony
The 96th Academy Awards will take place live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood starting at 7PM ET/4PM PT on ABC. You can watch through your cable provider on your TV or on abc.com and the ABC app.
There will also be an American Sign Language (ASL) livestream with Deaf Interpreters that goes along with the Oscars broadcast starting at 7PM ET/4PM PT.
If you’re unable to watch the show but want to get real-time updates of what’s happening, GoodMorningAmerica.com, the Good Morning America social media accounts, and ABCNews.com will have live coverage of the red carpet and awards show beginning at 4PM ET/1PM PT. And, ABC Audio will have full coverage of Oscars night — live reports will take place throughout the night on ABC News Radio affiliates across the U.S. (and there will be recaps of the big moments the next day).
This Year’s Oscar Nominees
As we previously reported, The Walt Disney Company got 20 Oscar nominations this year across all of its studios and brands. Poor Things leads with 11 nominations, followed by The Creator with two. Bobi Wine: The People’s President, Elemental, Flamin’ Hot, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Last Repair Shop, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and Nǎi Nai and Wài Pó each received one nomination each.
If you still haven’t seen some of the nominees, the ones mentioned above are available on either Disney+ or Hulu (or both). Other films are available with certain add-on subscriptions to Hulu, like HBO Max.
If you want to make your predictions on who will take home the awards, ABC has a printable ballot so you can play along! You can also participate in Oscars Pick ‘Em on abc.com. Just pick who you think is going to win before the show.
Winning picks are worth 10 points and the grand prize winner will get an Oscars All-Star Winner prize package: a three-day/two-night trip for two to Los Angeles and tickets to the 2025 Oscars Watch Party at the Academy Museum, plus $5,000. There are also 10 first prize packs that each include an official Oscars water bottle, a shirt, a notebook, playing cards, and an embroidered cap.
96th Oscars Host
Jimmy Kimmel is once again hosting the show this year — it’s his fourth time since 2017. When asked about the gig, Kimmel said, “I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times.”
He then continued on to say, “What sets the Oscars apart from other live events? Well, it’s not as sweaty as the Super Bowl. It’s classier than any of the other award shows. This is the big one. It’s the granddaddy of them all, and everybody is aware of that and pretty excited to be there.”
96th Oscars Presenters
There are a bunch of presenters at this year’s ceremony! Here’s the list we have so far:
Mahershala Ali, Emily Blunt, Bad Bunny, Nicolas, Cage, Jamie Lee Curtis, Cynthia Erivo, America Ferrera, Sally Field, Brendan Fraser, Ryan Gosling, Ariana Grande, Chris Hemsworth, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Keaton, Regina King, Ben Kingsley, Jessica Lange, Jennifer Lawrence, Melissa McCarthy, Matthew McConaughey, Kate McKinnon, Rita Moreno, John Mulaney, Lupita Nyong’o, Catherine O’Hara, Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ke Huy Quan, Issa Rae, Tim Robbins, Sam Rockwell, Octavia Spencer, Steven Spielberg, Mary Steenburgen, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlize Theron, Christoph Waltz, Forest Whitaker, Michelle Yeoh, Ramy Youssef, and Zendaya.
Yep, that’s a pretty stacked lineup, if I do say so myself.
96th Oscars Performers
As with previous Oscars ceremonies, all of the nominees for Best Original Song will be performed during the show. This includes:
- “The Fire Inside” from Flamin’ Hot – Performed by Becky G
- “I’m Just Ken” from Barbie – Performed by Ryan Gosling and Mark Ronson

After the Oscars
Right after the Oscars, a brand-new episode of Abbott Elementary will air on ABC! This episode is called “Willard R. Abbott,” and the premise is that Abbott Elementary is deemed a Philadelphia historical landmark, which makes some of the employees happy and others not so much. The celebration for the school will likely not be going as planned!
Then, on Monday, March 11th, Good Morning America will air its signature “Oscars After Party” live from Times Square. This will have post-show updates, as well as Spencer’s backstage interviews.
Finally, LIVE with Kelly and Mark will have Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos hosting their After the Oscars special, which will air live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood at 9AM ET/PT on Monday, March 11th. There will be big moments with the winners (captured the moment they walk offstage!), musical performances, fashion panels, and more.
So, grab your popcorn and your Oscars ballots and get ready for the movie industry’s biggest night of the year! Stay tuned for more Disney news and updates.
