New Disney World Sanitizer Stations Use a Surprising Source of Energy
Ever since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, hand sanitizer stations have become staples of any indoor facility.
As one of the most visited places on the planet, Disney World has placed hundreds of hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the property, with at least one machine placed in almost every indoor space.
Previously, Disney used traditional battery-powered machines that were motion-activated.
The Sanitizer Machines Use Indoor Light For Energy
Today, however, when visiting Walt Disney World, we noticed that Disney has begun rolling out new sleeker machines. Perhaps more importantly, they are powered by indoor light!
We were able to find the new Rubbermaid hand sanitizer dispensers at both Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom.
Here is a look at the new hand sanitizer station found in Contemporary Resort’s Contempo Cafe.
According to the product description, these hand sanitizer machines do not require new batteries for operation and instead feature a Lumecel rechargeable energy system that “harnesses energy from indoor light sources to give you a continuous supply of soap.”
Disney Is Currently Using Both Models
Here is a look at the new machines in action at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Interestingly, the restaurant also has one of the old models.
With hand sanitizer machines not going anywhere anytime soon, it’s good to see Disney investing in high-tech stations.
Hopefully, we will see these eco-friendly machines spread to the rest of the resort soon!
