Disney Sells Out Academy Award Advertising Inventory
The Walt Disney Company has officially sold out advertising for the 96th Academy Awards, with just four days to spare.
Long known as one of the biggest nights in broadcasting, the Academy Awards, like other award shows, has seen a steep decrease in audiences over the last several years. Still, outside of sporting events, the Oscars remain a central showcase for advertisers.
In addition to traditional commercials, Disney says that TikTok is set to sponsor a “first-of-its-kind red carpet live stream,” and Don Julio is sponsoring an “in-show” moment.
According to Disney, Rolex, and Bank of America advertisements will also be integrated into the broadcast.
17 Categories of Sponsors Have Signed On
In total, Disney says that 17 different categories of sponsors have signed on to advertise during the broadcast. In the entertainment sphere, this includes Universal Pictures, Lionsgate, SiriusXM, Amazon, MGM Studios, and Disney itself.
“On March 10th, Hollywood’s biggest night returns, and we couldn’t be more excited, along with our incredible brand partners, to once again have the honor to celebrate the greatest in films and storytelling, said Rita Ferro, president of global advertising for Disney.
“The Oscars stage and telecast continues to be the break-through moment for the most impactful brand marketers to bring their own creative storytelling to the cultural forefront through new innovation and never-before-seen activations.”
As we previously reported, The Walt Disney Company has put a ton of resources into promoting this year’s Academy Awards. With a sell-out in advertising, all eyes will now be on viewership numbers.
