New ‘Lightyear’ Trailer Gives First Look at the Menacing Emperor Zurg
One of Disney and Pixar’s highly anticipated films for their 2022 slate, the brand new Lightyear trailer gives fans their first look at the assumed antagonist of the film; Emperor Zurg.
A brand new film that will reimagine the widely adored Toy Story character, Buzz Lightyear, in a brand new way, Lightyear tells the story that inspired the toy, in what looks to be a beautiful take on the iconic character.

Starring Chris Evans, fans were treated to the film’s first teaser trailer that featured a first look at the over aesthetic of the film late last year, with the brand new trailer expounding on the story, ad giving fans a greater look at what to expect.
One of the coolest developments in the film’s first full-length trailer was the debut of what can be assumed as the story’s main antagonist, the iconic Emperor Zurg.

Shown as a hulking and ominous robotic giant, the Zurg from Lightyear shows a lot of the same design elements as the character in Toy Story; yet without some of the more cartoonish qualities.
Perhaps the most iconic addition to the Lightyear design is the character’s signature three-barrel blaster on his left arm; equipped with gree lights that are clearly inspired by the Toy Story characters three-barrel blaster firing iconic green balls in the films.

In the scene showing Buzz take on Zurg, we can also see the signature Lightyear red beam shoot out of the characters right wrist, an iconic detail that shows that Angus McLane and the films creative team took immense care in bringing to life these characters in a true, but also completely ban anew, way.
There is little known about what fans can expect out of the story major conflict, or what role Zurg plays in the brand new film, but with the lore established by the Toy Story franchise as a road map, it is almost a guarantee that the character will be important the Buzz Lightyear story.
