The Disneyland Lawsuit Has Been Finalized — Here Is What Magic Key Holders Were Awarded
The Disneyland Magic Key class action lawsuit has finally been finalized, with Disney agreeing to pay Dream Key holders a total of $9.5 million.
The lawsuit revolved around the introduction of the Park Pass reservation system at Disneyland Resort. With the advent of the new system, guests needed to book a Park Pass in addition to purchasing a ticket for that day. The change applied to both date-based tickets and Disneyland Magic Key (annual pass) holders.

The lawsuit was initially filed by Janale Nielsen as an individual and on behalf of other Dream Key holders.
In their suit, Nielsen argued that Disney had violated the terms of the “Dream Key” by implementing the Park Pass requirements. One of Disneyland’s four annual pass options, the Dream Key, had been advertised as an annual pass with no blackout dates.
Disney Agreed To Settle Last Year
Last July, Disney and Nielsen agreed to settle the suit following in-person mediation.

“We are satisfied that this matter has been resolved,” Disneyland officials said at the time of the settlement.
Following Nielsen’s lawsuit, Disney added language to the terms and conditions of the Magic Key pass sales. They now state that guests waive their right to pursue litigation related to the pass.

How Much Will Each Dream Key Holder Recieve?
With the two sides now settling on a $9.5 million figure, each Dream Key annual pass holder will receive a payment of about $67.
A settlement administrator for the class action will now provide notice to pass holders and pay out the cash awards. Dream Key pass holders will be automatically enrolled in the settlement fund and will not need to submit a claim to get paid.

Of the total $9.5 million settlement, Magic Key Passholders will receive about $7 million. The other $2.5 million will go to fees.
Nielsen, meanwhile, will receive $5,000 as an “incentive award” for her time, effort, and service.
