‘Epic Mickey’ Director Warren Spector Talks ‘Rebrushed’ and Possible ‘Epic Mickey 3’
As a longtime fan of the Epic Mickey series, I could not be more excited about last week’s announcement that a remastered version of Epic Mickey, titled Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch and other platforms.
A true labor of Disney love, the Epic Mickey series brought players to Wasteland, a place where Disney’s forgotten creations came to reside.

In Epic Mickey, Disney not only gave fans perhaps the best Mickey Mouse video game ever, but it also reintroduced Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to a new generation.
Following the success of the original game, a sequel titled Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two was released. The second game allowed gamers to play as both Mickey and Oswald, continuing the story of the first game. While the disappointing sales of the sequel ended the franchise, designers, led by director Warren Spector, had originally intended the series to be a trilogy.

Shortly after the release of Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Disney Interactive Studios was shut down, ending any hope that the trilogy could be completed.
Warren Spector Talks ‘Epic Mickey: Rebrushed’
With the announcement that Epic Mickey: Rebrushed was on the way, Epic Mickey fans were once again given a glimmer of hope that the franchise could continue. All eyes then turned to Spector.
Chiming in on LinkedIn, Spector shared that he was thrilled with the upcoming remaster, lauding the teams behind the effort.

“I can’t begin to describe how excited I am that Disney Epic Mickey is coming back on Switch and other platforms,” Spector wrote.
“Everyone on the original team, as well as the Purple Lamp and THQ Nordic teams that worked on the remaster, did a great job bringing the game to life. The teams on the project were fantastic – it was obviously a real labor of love – and every team member can take pride in the fact that we created something that – like just about everything Disney – is evergreen.”
What About ‘Epic Mickey 3’
When discussing the possibility that Epic Mickey: Rebrushed could eventually lead to the long-awaited Epic Mickey 3, Spector revealed that his other commitments made that impossible.

“I’d love to do Epic Mickey 3, but I have a day job that would make that impossible,” he said. “I actually have a high level idea for what I’d do in a tri-quel.”
While it doesn’t sound like an Epic Mickey 3 is in the cards, Spector made it clear that he loved his time with Disney.

“Being part of the company’s ongoing legacy of delivering family entertainment that lives on for decades is more than I could have hoped for,” he wrote. “Only problem is they didn’t mention Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. That poor little guy can’t get no respect!”

Even without Epic Mickey 3, Spector can take pride in the two games he created and the pivotal role that he played in bringing Oswald home. Still, fans can dream, can’t they?
