What Will Disney Be Like in July 2024?
What will Disney be like in July 2024?
You’re wondering this for the obvious reason. We both know you’re gonna visit then.
That’s the time on the annual calendar when theme parks overflow with families relishing their summer vacations.

Low crowds near Cinderella Castle
Well, I’ve got great news for you this time! It might not be as crowded as you’re expecting!
Here’s my best guess on what Disney will be like in July 2024.
Visiting Disney in July
Okay, let’s discuss the obvious before we move along to the positives.
Yes, you’ll face larger crowds at Disney’s theme parks during July. And yes, the weather will be quite hot at times.
Those are the negatives, but everything else I’m about to say should provide you with optimism.
For starters, we typically expect large crowds around the July 4th holiday. In 2023, that didn’t happen.
For a time, critics assailed Disney for its lack of holiday crowds.
Meanwhile, the guests who visited the park on and around July 4th had the time of their lives.
The prevailing belief is that the calendar configuration of the holiday falling on a Tuesday negatively impacted attendance.
With the holiday falling on Thursday this year, the same thing could happen again.
Conversely, the equally big problem for Disney last year was that it was literally, not figuratively, the hottest week on record.
Those aren’t the days when you want to walk for ten miles at theme parks.
Should we expect similarly hot weather this year? Let’s discuss what we know.
Let’s Talk about July Weather at Disney World
For many years now, I’ve used WeatherSpark data to identify weather patterns.
What I’ll tell you is that I’ve definitely tracked an uptick in average temperatures over the past five years.
Currently, WeatherSpark suggests that the average high temperature in Orlando hovers around 90 degrees in July.

The typical range is 85 to 94 degrees, which is noteworthy in its own way.
Trust me when I say that you can definitely tell a difference between 85 and 94 degrees.
When the high temperature is at 85 degrees, you’ll enjoy a lovely visit. At 94 degrees, well, you should choose more indoor rides.
On the plus side, the average low temperature is 75 degrees, with a range of 72 to 78 degrees.
Based on this information, you can tell that you’ll experience many warm summer nights at Walt Disney World.
I’m talking about the magical kind that you’ll never forget.

A rainy day in Magic Kingdom
As for rainfall, that’s definitely welcome on the hottest and most humid days.
That’s good news in July, as statistics indicate a two-in-three chance of rainfall on any given date.
Then, we have the clouds to consider, which is an odder conversation.
Orlando’s cloudiest day of the year occurs on July 6th, while its clearest day of the year follows 25 days later on July 31st.
That’s weird, and I don’t know what information you can take from it other than the clouds go away deeper into the month.
What Will You Find at Disney World in July?

This year’s offerings remain a bit vague.
Disney has taken the unusual step of ending the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival in late May.
To date, park officials have yet to announce the start date for the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival.

In 2023, the event started on July 27th. So, guests visiting later in the month should be fine.
Those of you vacationing in early to mid-July may find yourselves without an EPCOT festival, a rarity these days.
Then again, you’ll find so much new stuff to do at EPCOT that you won’t even notice.

Journey of Water
Over the past calendar year, Disney has added Journey of Water | Inspired by Moana, World Celebration Gardens, and multiple character greetings.
Also, Luminous The Symphony of Us is now performing nightly at World Showcase Lagoon. And that’s just at EPCOT.
At Magic Kingdom, there’s a legitimate chance that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be up and running by July.
Country Bear Musical Jamboree should also be open to the public.
In short, you’ll find plenty to do at the parks that’s new for 2024 on top of all the existing wonderful entertainment options.
What Else Can You Do in Orlando in July?

Let’s lean into the obvious here.
July is theme park season everywhere in the country, and you’ll find other options in Orlando if so inclined.
I realize that many tourists aren’t willing to leave the Disney Bubble during a vacation, which I respect because I’m the same way.

sea world
However, should you try the other parks, you’ll discover SeaWorld Orlando has added two new rides recently.
So, you could experience Ice Breaker and Pipeline: The Surf Coaster.
Plus, by July, a new roller coaster named Penguin Trek should be open.

At Universal Orlando Resort, we’re in the calm before the storm of Universal Epic Universe.
Still, the new DreamWorks Land will arrive this year on the heels of last year’s Minion Land.
Neither of these themed lands is on a par with Disney, but these are other things to try in Orlando if you want to experience more theme parks.
Final Thoughts

For parents of school-aged children, much of what I’ve said here won’t impact your vacation plans in the least.
The reality is that you’ll visit Disney in July because that’s when it’s easiest for you to travel.
You don’t need to worry about school schedules, and most companies expect lighter workloads in the summer for this reason.

So, you’ll have the vacation time and the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World. Those are the factors that matter most.
You can work around all the other factors I’ve listed here. Plus, you can already tell the positives.
Disney knows that a large number of people will build their entire years around a magical July vacation.
