Mark Ruffalo Talks Hulk Solo Movies and Marvel’s Recent Struggles
After years of keeping Marvel fans’ hopes alive that we could see another Incredible Hulk solo movie, Mark Ruffalo seems to be throwing in the towel.
The last time that the Avengers star broached the topic, he revealed that Kevin Feige had told him that Marvel would tell the Hulk’s story through other films instead of standalone films.
Now, in a recent interview with GQ, Ruffalo bluntly stated that while he would love to do a standalone Hulk film, the CGI needed to create the Hulk on the big screen means that a Hulk solo outing is unlikely.
“I’d love to do a standalone Hulk, I just don’t think that’s ever going to happen,” Ruffalo said. “It’s very expensive if you did a whole movie, which is why they use the Hulk so sparingly. I priced myself out!”
Ruffalo’s Thoughts on Marvel Streaming
Ruffalo’s comments seem to echo She-Hulk: Attorney At Law star Tatiana Mosely’s opinion that the Disney+ series would not return for a second season because of how expensive it was to create.
Speaking of streaming, Ruffalo was asked about Marvel’s struggles since the studio dove headfirst into streaming content. The actor had an interesting response.
“I think the expansion into streaming was really exciting. But the thing about Marvel movies is you had to wait three years and that created a mystique,” he pontificated.
As to whether or not Marvel can right the ship, Ruffalo wasn’t touching the subject.
