Jeremy Renner Promises Marvel Fans That He “Will Be Strong Enough” To Return as Hawkeye
Just over a year after his near-fatal snow plow accident, Jeremy Renner is making a promise to Marvel fans- he will be strong enough to play Hawkeye again.
Reflecting on his journey since the accident, Renner seemed to have a positive outlook on his continued road to recovery.
“[I’m doing] probably 90 percent of all the things I needed to be doing … I think another six months will be hopefully running [more] … I got to set goals for myself. I’ll do whatever I can … whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger,” Renner told Entertainment Tonight.
“It’s a one-way street, this recovery. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I look forward to it, man. There’s always something to do to get better, be stronger, be happier, be healthier, and that’s what I look forward to.”
Will Renner Return to the MCU?
When asked specifically about reprising his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Renner reflected back on the support of his Avengers co-stars and promised fans that he would “be ready.”
“I’m always game. I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready. All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so … if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.”
As our very own David Mumpower has posited before, Renner’s real-life heroics and the obstacles that he has had to overcome would add poignancy to any future Hawkeye stories.
Hopefully, Renner will continue to recover, and we see the actor suit up in the MCU soon.
