“Tiana’s Famous Beignets” Arrived at Magic Kingdom Today… Are They Worth It?
Greetings from Magic Kingdom!
It’s the first of February today, and there’s quite a line of people over here in Frontierland. Anyone got any ideas as to what they’re lining up for?
Well, if you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog recently, you’ll know that February sees the “Celebrate Soulfully” event take place in the Disney Parks: a beautiful celebration of Black culture and heritage through food and other experiences.
Earlier this year Disney released a mouth-watering foodie guide to the occasion, and it’s this that brings us over here to Frontierland today.
This huge queue snakes around Golden Oak Outpost, the pit-stop snack cabin sandwiched between Frontierland and Adventureland. Here, there’s a new item on the menu that’s got everyone talking – and for good reason, too!
Tiana’s Famous Beignets
It’s only Tiana’s Famous Beignets!
The excitement surrounding this treat was immense, especially with the construction over at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ticking along nicely here at Magic Kingdom.
Formerly, it was only over at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter that beignets could be found at Walt Disney World, so it sure is nice to see them arrive here!
The “famous” beignets are served here with a side of strawberry sauce, for fruity dipping. It sounds delicious… but did the dessert live up to the hype?
Ok, this is where the article takes a turn. Prepare yourselves.
Unfortunately, our MickeyBlog reporters felt very let down by these beignets. After eating the beloved Mickey-shaped treats over at French Quarter our expectations were high, but these Magic Kingdom versions just didn’t hit the mark.
Really, what our reporters found is that these tasted much more like croissants than beignets (we even saw the box these came from, and it said croissant-beignets on it!). Croissants, of course, are delicious… but not when it’s beignets you’ve been craving!
They tasted a bit overdone and burned, and while the strawberry was tasty, there wasn’t enough powdered sugar dusted on top to sweeten the deal. All in all, it’s a bit of a miss for us!
If you’d like to give these a try anyway, they can be purchased for $6.99 over at Golden Oak Outpost. Will you give them a go?
