Pixar Place Hotel Now Open at Disneyland Resort!
Pixar Place Hotel is now open at Disneyland Resort! Today, the reimagined hotel (formerly the Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel) officially re-opened to enthusiastic guests and celebratory fan-fare.
The 15-story high-rise is the first completely Pixar-themed hotel and enjoys amazing views of Disney California Adventure. Let’s take a closer look at the new Pixar Place Hotel.
Reimagined Resort
The reimagined guest rooms incorporate whimsical nods and fun details to Pixar. From concept art on the headboards to decor inspired by the Pixar Ball, there are details everywhere that honor the animation studio.
In addition, guests can find Pixar-created art in the rooms. Roger Gould, Creative Director, Theme Parks at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, shared,
Our Pixar artists love seeing their stories come to life in Disney parks for guests to enjoy—and for them to enjoy, too! Now, with Pixar Place Hotel, our guests are welcome to stay in an environment that surrounds them with the joyful spirit of Pixar.
One of the most exciting aspects of the hotel is that we’re sharing the story of how we create our films. There are amazing, never-before-seen pieces of concept art and storyboards as well as wireframes, maquettes, and other elements that illustrate how our films go from an original idea all the way to the finished image.
And it’s not just the rooms that are inspired by your favorite Pixar friends. Mike and Sulley from Monsters University can be spotted on gym treadmills, and Hank, Squirt, Dory, and Marlin are found in the colorful new pool area.
Unwind with Ember from Elemental and Anger from Inside Out by the fire pits outside.
In addition, families can plunge down the 186-feet-long Crush’s Surfin’ Slide; swim in the Pixel Pool; discover Nemo’s Cove, and play at the Pixar Shorts Court.
All of these offerings seamlessly combine the art, color, and technology of animation.Tasha Sounart, Theme Park Creative Director at Pixar Animation Studios shared:
The different spaces in the hotel tell the story of how art and technology come together in the process of making Pixar films, starting in the lobby with the mobile representing minimalist character sketches to the rear entry hallway murals showing how animation thumbnails evolve into wireframes built in the computer.
For the pool area, we had a lot of fun creating pixel-art versions of the characters out of tiles, to further represent the role technology plays in our art process.
Comfort and Artistry
The new hotel also features comfortable and contemporary guest rooms inspired by Pixar Animation Studios, new dining options by Great Maple, a relaxing rooftop pool area and play court, a renovated fitness center, and more.
And all throughout the beautiful resort are amazing concept renderings, colorful art, and more.
Pete Docter, Chief Creative Officer at Pixar Animation Studios shared:
At Pixar, our mission is to tell great stories. And nothing is more exciting than when we see those stories come to life in Disney parks. Pixar Place Hotel at the Disneyland Resort is the perfect example; it’s like walking into a world of Pixar.
Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock adds,
We are looking to turbocharge expansion at Disneyland Resort over the coming years, and the transformation of Pixar Place Hotel is a demonstration of how we’re creating high-quality guest experiences infused with our most popular stories.
Pixar Place Hotel evokes the magic of every Pixar film, while celebrating the artistic process. From subtle details to decadent décor, Guests will experience their favorite moments from Pixar.
The hotel finds plenty of great ways to pay homage to Pixar. Have you seen the sculpture of the iconic Pixar Lamp balancing atop its ball in the lobby?
And look up to see floating mobiles highlighting the Pixar filmmaking process.
One of the coolest immersive additions? There is new lobby music that plays 10 new arrangements of Pixar cues. Now you can really feel like you are in a movie.
And be prepared to come face to face with your Disney faves including Joe Gardner from Soul and Bing Bong from Inside Out.
Just off the lobby is the new merchandise store, STOR-E ( a fun a nod to WALL-E). Shop for the perfect souvenir while exploring Pixar artwork and memorabilia like the scuba mask from Finding Nemo, balloons from Up, and Hank’s coffee pot from Finding Dory.
New Dining Options
The creativity and comfort of Pixar Place Hotel extends to the new, upscale culinary offerings. Guests can indulge on delicious American classics at three dining locations operated by Southern California-based Great Maple.
Savor new flavors and elevated twists on your favorite foods at the 6,500 square-foot Great Maple, the charming Sketch Pad Café, or the rooftop pool bar Small Bytes (opening in early March).
