Who Is Jon Landau?
You may not know the name or even the face, but Jon Landau is one of the most important people in Hollywood.
Landau is a film producer who has worked with James Cameron throughout the Academy Award winner’s entire career.
In fact, Landau stood on stage at the Academy Awards and accepted the Oscar for Best Picture for Titanic!
The two of them have fostered a multi-decade professional relationship that has fundamentally changed cinema.
Landau has produced three of the four biggest movies in box office history.

Avatar Plans Are Apparently Advancing

Landau’s post simply states the following: “Had a great day at @waltdisneyimagineering talking about the future.”
However, all Disney fans understand the implication.
Less than a year ago, Disney CEO Bob Iger surprised even Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock with an announcement.

An Avatar experience of some sort is coming to Disneyland Resort at a later date.
Planning is well underway for this experience, and the presence of Landau at Walt Disney Imagineering reinforces this point.
Disney just revealed its DisneylandForward proposal yesterday.

The company appears ready to spend at least $2 billion and likely $2.5 billion at the parks over the next decade.
An Avatar attraction akin to the attractions at Pandora: The World of Avatar would thrill Disney’s West Coast fans.
Obviously, we have no idea if that’s what’s in store, but let’s pay attention to the calendar here.
Last year, Iger made the surprise announcement during the early February fiscal earnings call.
