‘Indiana Jones and the Grand Circle’ Will Be Set Between ‘Raiders’ and ‘The Last Crusade’
While Harrison Ford has officially retired his fedora and will not be making any more Indiana Jones movies, that doesn’t mean that the legendary archeologist doesn’t have any more stories to tell.
Moving away from feature films, the next great Indiana Jones tale will be told in video game form when Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is released.
The adventure game created by Wolfenstein studio MachineGames along with Bethesda and executive producer Todd Howard will take Indy fans back to a time between Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Indiana Jones and the Grand Circle
During the Xbox Developer Direct live show, designers from MachineGames explained the narrative of the new Indy game.
“When our game begins, Indiana is working at Marshall College,” the plot summary goes. “He wakes up in the middle of the night to the sounds of a break-in and rushes to confront the thief in the College museum. The mysterious giant of a man marks off with what seems to be a historically insignificant artifact, sparking Indiana’s curiosity. Following the trail, Indiana heads to the Vatican hoping to learn why this particular relic was stolen and discovers that things aren’t what they appear.”
A Globe-Trotting Adventure
The new game also takes Indy from “the heart of the Vatican, the pyramids of Egypt, the snow-peaked Himalayas, and beyond.” On his adventures, he will be joined by a reporter named Gina, who has been chasing a lead since before Indy got involved in the artifact search.
In The Great Circle, Indy will be pitted against Emmerich Voss. He is described as an “intensely psychological man” obsessed with the human mind.
While we don’t have a release date yet, Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is expected to debut in 2024.
