That Goshiki Sushi Donut Still Slaps at the EPCOT Festival of the Arts
When you think of the annual EPCOT Festival of the Arts, what comes to mind first? Incredible artistry? Broadway entertainment? Figment… everywhere?
Or, is it those incredible, Insta-famous sushi donuts from over at Goshiki?
Yep, today is the very first day of the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts, and your MickeyBloggers are reporting LIVE from the park all day.
Right now, we’re in this unbelievably giant queue for the Goshiki marketplace kitchen, where we’re thrilled to hear some classic festival dishes have arrived on the menu once more. Let’s go!
Goshiki
Known for serving up the most “delectable dishes featuring ‘the five colors’ of Japanese cuisine,” Goshiki is a regular favorite here at the Festival of the Arts. It’s located in the Japan pavilion in the EPCOT World Showcase, and we can see the line already stretching from the booth!
There are three tasty items available to order here at Goshiki.
Let’s try them out!
We’ll start with the classic, the Insta-famous, ultra-fabulous favorite: the Sushi Donut.
Just look at her — she’s a beautiful artsy queen!
This is a donut-shaped sushi with salmon, tuna, shrimp, cucumber, and sesame seed, served on a plate with wasabi aioli, sriracha aioli, and eel sauce.
It looks incredible, and at $8.75 we’re sure this features on many guests’ to-try lists at the festival!
Obviously, we had to order it too. And, as always, our reporters agreed this dish is once again a festival favorite!
The feedback was that the rice was good and sticky, with tasty flavors coming especially from the shrimp, salmon, and tuna on top.
We’d always recommend giving this one a try. Even that long line for the booth wasn’t going to deter us today!
Next up on the menu is the Wagyu Bun, so let’s take a look at that….
This tasty treat is a steamed bun filled with American wagyu beef, served with green shiso sauce. It costs $9.75.
Now, we can’t believe we’re saying this but, in our opinion, the bun tasted just like a cheeseburger pod! You know, like those fan favorites over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?
It’s all good reviews from us, with our reporters saying that there was a beautiful amount of filling in the dense bun, all seasoned well and with the perfect sauce-to-meat ratio.
It looked delicious, tasted delicious, and was another certain Goshiki hit here at the festival!
Lastly — for dessert — there’s the Ichigo Mochi – Daifuku.
This is a $6.75 Daifuku mochi filled with fresh strawberry, sweet azuki bean paste, and white chocolate, served with a whip of strawberry cream.
It sounds good, and looks pretty… but was it a hit in our reporters’ eyes?
Unfortunately, it wasn’t.
Disappointingly, we found the textures of this to be rather off, with an overly floury taste to the mochi and a peculiar taste coming through from the bean curd, too. I think it’s safe to say that we’re going to call this one a miss today!
Moving on to beverages, where there are four fruity and unique options available to purchase at this booth.
First up is the Mursaki Blueberry Drink, which is a non-alcoholic concoction of sweet blueberry and cream, costing $6.75. If you like berries, there’s also a Blueberry Cocktail option, combining Nigori sake with sweet blueberry, cream, and yuzu. It costs $8.50.
Then, there’s a Masu Sake option for $14, served in a traditional personalized wooden cup, and finally a Mikan Orange IPA, at $5.50-$10.
Which would you order?
If any of these treats sound like a must-try for you, be sure to visit Goshiki during your next adventure to the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts.
But, if you’re still undecided about where to head first, you can always stay tuned right here at MickeyBlog for all the best photos, reviews, tips, and more from the event, brought to you live by our reporters.
