Sam Worthington Says the ‘Avatar’ Cast Will Return to Work Next Month
According to Sam Worthington, the cast of James Cameron’s Avatar franchise is set to return to work in February.
“We go back to work on it in a month and it’s big,” Worthington said. “It’s bigger than you can imagine.”
James Cameron Says ‘Avatar 3’ is on Track
James Cameron recently revealed to People Magazine that Avatar 3 is “right on track” for its December 2025 release. The film is currently in post-production, as Cameron shot the bulk of the third Avatar installment before Avatar: The Way of Water hit theaters.
According to Cameron, parts of Avatar 4 were also shot concurrently with The Way of Water to ensure continuity.
“We did the [motion capture] capture on three and the live-action photography on three as an intermingled production with [‘Avatar: The Way of Water’], and we even did part of movie four because our young characters are all going to have a big time jump in movie four,” he said. “We see them and then we go away for six years and we come back. And so the part where we come back is the part we haven’t shot yet. So we’ll start on that after three is released.”
Filming on ‘Avatar 4’ Will Not Start Until 2026
As Cameron has previously stated, filming on Avatar 4 won’t occur until after Avatar 3 is released. So, it sounds like Worthington and his cast mates may be returning to work on the post-production of Avatar 3.
For his part, the actor was mum on the nature of the upcoming work.
Avatar 3 will hit theaters on December 19, 2025.
