New Plexiglass Dividers Being Tested on Its a Small World Ride
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you’ll know that Disney World is starting to make adjustments to the way social distancing is managed on some of Disney’s most popular attractions. Initially Disney theme parks were spacing guests into every other row on ride vehicles.
However, due to an increase in crowd capacity and to combat lengthy queues Disney is now looking for alternatives.
An example of this can be seen on classic Magic Kingdom attraction “it’s a small world.”
During our visit to Magic Kingdom this weekend we noticed that new plexiglass dividers are being put up between each of the rows on the individual boats!
This is being done so that each row of the boats can be filled during peak periods.
As you can see the dividers are just high enough to provide a barrier between the guests in front of you.
Fortunately, it doesn’t look as if it will restrict the view while on board.
During our visit, we noticed that not all of the boats had the plexiglass installed.
We spoke to a cast member who advised that the plexiglass is just being trialed at the moment.
In order to install the dividers on the boats, holes need to be made to the boats themselves.
As a result, if the new dividers are to be implemented across the entire attraction, new boats will need to be brought into the ride.
There’s no word yet and whether Disney plans to overhaul all the boats on the attraction.
However, this measure would be in keeping with changes that are being made across other Disney attractions to allow more guests to ride at a time.
