Former Accounting Manager Settles Relatiation Lawsuit With Disney and Partners Federal Credit Union
A former accounting manager for Walt Disney Enterprises Inc. and Partners Federal Credit Union has settled her whistleblower retaliation lawsuit against the entities.
Yuliya Titkova was suing Disney and the credit union, alleging that she had to quit her job in 2022 to avoid being fired for false misconduct charges. The lawsuit stated that she experienced retaliation after she complained to her management that her superior had told employees not to report overtime pay due to them.
Titkova Says She Was the Victim of Retaliation
After learning that her supervisor, Pooka Ralli Zandand was allegedly telling workers to report their overtime hours, Titkova reported her concerns. She believed the order was illegal under federal and California law.
Zandand allegedly then reprimanded her and told her not to complain further if she wanted to remain employed.
In November 2022, Zandand and a second management representative then told Titkova that a complaint was filed against her and she was being put on administrative leave. Titkova asserted that the allegations were false and made in retaliation for coming forward about the overtime issue.
Five days later, management accused Titkova of threatening co-workers and leaving them demoralized. She resigned from her position in late November 2022 after Zandand and another manager told her she would fired for misconduct if she did not quit, according to the lawsuit.
Titkova says she rejected a severance offer of $16,360.
A Settlement Has Been Reached
Defense attorneys had previously both denied Titkova’s allegations and stated that her claims were barred by the statute of limitations. DIsney’s lawyers also maintained that Titkova did not work for their client.
On Tuesday, however, Titkova’s attorneys filed court papers with Judge Randolph M. Hammock which stated that a “conditional” settlement had been reached. A request for dimisssal will now be filed by February 15.
At this time, no terms of the settlement were divulged.
