The TRON Lightcycle/Run Queue Has Been Refurbished
One of my most cherished Disney memories was visiting Pandora — The World of Avatar on the day it opened to the public.
As a non-local, getting to be among the first guests to walk into a new Disney Park land was truly a special moment, and I was awed by what I saw.

Pandora seemed to come to life at night with iridescent lights and exotic plants that made the entire land glow.

While I have visited Pandora dozens of times since then, I am always a little underwhelmed. The wear and tear has begun to show throughout the land, and Disney has increased the traditional lighting used throughout the land. Pandora is still beautiful, but it is not the same place it was the week it opened.
A Tale As Old As Time
I tell you this story to illustrate that many times, visiting a brand new Disney attraction or land is an experience you can never duplicate.
After pumping thousands of guests through each day, attractions get worn down, operations change certain procedures, and there is usually an effect or two that never quite works again.
TRON Lightcycle/Run
We saw this principle play out earlier this year when TRON Lightcycle/Run opened at the Magic Kingdom.

Ride queue
For those who rode the attraction when it initially opened, the queue was a pristine place that really transported you inside the “Grid.”
Disney lined the blue walls with “light up” circuits that really immersed you into the TRON story and added to the atmosphere.

After a short period of time, however, the walls began to peel and look worn. Soon enough, the queue walls were an eyesore, not a story element.
Fairly quickly, Disney covered the walls in black. While this hid the faded nature of what came before it, it also lessened the TRON story. Something was lost.
Disney Goes The Extra Mile
Well, I am happy to report that instead of permanently removing the TRON circuit walls, Disney has refurbished the attraction’s queue and restored them to their glory.
The walls once again shine bright with blue circuits, giving guests the feeling that they are really entering the Grid.
The blue circuit patterns have become synonymous with the TRON aesthetic. Here is another look.
No longer does the queue feel worn, it looks brand new!
This is the kind of attention to detail that Disney was once known for. It is great to see them refurbishing the queue as opposed to taking away the story elements.
