Marvel Hires Matthew Orton To Write New Material For ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Although filming on the movie was completed before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Disney recently announced that Captain America: Brave New World will not be released until February 14, 2025.
The fourth installment in the Captain America franchise, Brave New World, will see Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson picking up Steve Rogers’s shield and becoming Captain America.
The film will also see the return of Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez), who will assume the mantle of Falcon and Carl Lumbly’s Isaiah Bradley. Both characters were introduced in the Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Additionally, Harrison Ford is set to assume the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross from the late William Hurt, and Liv Tayler will reprise her The Incredible Hulk role as Betty Ross.
Matthew Orton Signs On
With the film now delayed for over a year, Marvel has hired Matthew Orton to write additional scenes and material for the film.
According to Deadline, additional shooting is now planned for spring-summer of 2024.
Orton is no stranger to Marvel Studios’ having previously worked as a consulting producer for the Disney+ series Moon Knight.
Marvel is Taking Its Time
Following the twin failures of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, Marvel Studios plans to slow down its output and focus on quality over quantity.
In fact, next year, the studio will only have Deadpool 3 on the docket.
If today’s news is any indication, Marvel will take its time with its upcoming films. Hopefully, with some patience, the studio can get things back on track.
