The Walt Disney Company Earns 27 Golden Globe Nominations
The nominations for the 81st Golden Globe Awards have been announced and the Walt Disney Company is once again looking at a big year.
In total, Disney received 27 Golden Globe nominations across all its studios, which include Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television, FX, FX Productions, Hulu Originals, Marvel Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Searchlight Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Walt Disney Studios.
Searchlight Pictures Leads the Way
The big winner for Disney was Searchlight Pictures, which earned eight nominations. Poor Things accounted for seven of those nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Original Score, and individual nominations for Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, and Willem Dafoe.
The eighth Searchlight nomination was garnered by Andrew Scott for Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama for All of Us Strangers.
Hulu Did Well
Over on Hulu, both The Bear and Only Murders in the Building were nominated for five Golden Globes.
In addition to a slew of individual nominations, both series are up for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy.
In the Best Motion Picture, Animated category, both Elemental and Wish scored nods.
Barbenheimer Strikes Again
Outside of Disney, the big winner was, once again, Barbie. The Greta Gerwig film dominated the Golden Globe nominations, racking up 10 nods. That number was the second-most in the 81-year history of the award show, tying it with Cabaret.
Interestingly, Oppenheimer, which was released the same weekend as Barbie, managed eight nominations of its own.
The Golden Globe winners will be announced on January 7. For a complete list of Disney’s nominees, visit: https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/the-walt-disney-company-earns-27-golden-globe-award-nominations/
