Disney 2023 Holiday Gift Guide Part II — Time to Get Serious!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve officially reached the moment in the holiday shopping season where my credit card has scorch marks.
I’ve whipped that card out so much that you’d swear I’ve got it in a holster. Of course, it’s a Disney Rewards Visa, so it’s delightful.
Whenever I spend my money, at least I get to see fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle.
In honor of my financial recklessness, today’s Holiday Gift Guide suggestions will consist entirely of items I have purchased for loved ones!
(If you’re one of my loved ones, I apologize for the spoilers.)
A Life-Sized Build-A-Bear Stitch
There’s a Simpsons joke that I think about a lot. It’s the one where Smithers wants a Malibu Stacy doll because she has a new hat.
My wife is like that with Stitch dolls…and literally anything else Stitch-related.
With the benefit of hindsight, if I’d not taken her on a date to watch Lilo & Stitch, I would have saved myself soooo much money. Ah, well.
Now, we’re a Stitch family, complete with ‘Ohana Means Family signs and logos everywhere.
Recently, my wife emailed me news of this monstrosity.
I don’t know what’s happened here, but it feels like a scientific experiment involving Pym Particles has gone awry.
That Stitch isn’t just larger than that child; it’s larger than the actual Stitch!
You’ve gone too far, Build-A-Bear. Now shut up and take my money.
Frozen Wallet
Loyal readers, I cannot lie to you. There’s a hidden danger in frequenting our site. You’ll fall in love with Disney merch and buy some of it.
I’m not speaking theoretically here. During Thanksgiving Week, we posted this article.
As soon as I saw this Dooney & Bourke Frozen Wallet, I knew my wife would want it. She loves Elsa almost as much as Stitch.
This particular wallet highlights the various residents of Arendelle by displaying them in framed portraits.
You may have seen some of these on other Frozen merchandise. Now, Dooney & Bourke has put them all together for this single accessory.
My favorite is Sven, who looks oddly noble in his headshot. I should alert you to one concern, though.
The centered Doone & Bourke piece of metal on the wallet may block out someone’s face. So, that may make it a dealbreaker for you.
The Illusion of Life – Disney Animation
Okay, this suggestion is admittedly pretty niche. But it’s perfect for the Disney animation fan in your life.
Illustration Ollie Johnston joined Disney in 1934 and worked there for more than 40 years.
As an odd bit of Disney trivia, he was the final surviving member of the Nine Old Men, which firmly establishes his animation bona fides.
In 1995, the then-83-year-old Johnston shared his wisdom about the art of bringing Disney classics to life.
In this book, the reader learns the 12 basic principles of animation.
So, Disney fans who admire process will love it. More importantly, the fledgling illustrator in your life can use this to master their craft.
The Illusion of Life will teach beginners how to break down the process into easily achieved goals. Then, it’ll educate current animators about how to get even better.
If you know someone serious about animation, this book is a must. It’s one of the gold standards in the industry.
Madame Leota Doormat
We bought this doormat for Halloween. Now, it’s December, and the doormat is still there. So…
Okay, I’m kidding. Christmas is my time, so we did switch up our outdoor look to reflect the more festive holiday.
However, if my partner had her way, we’d go full-time Haunted Mansion, thereby terrifying the neighbors and warding off any would-be door-to-door solicitors.
Even as a Halloween casual, I was sad to see the doormat go for the year.
Its message of “We’ve been dying to have you” is Maximum Leota.
Mickey & Minnie Mouse 2024 Shirt
I’m always a bit conflicted about dated merchandise. Such clothing comes with a shelf life.
For example, that Walt Disney World 2017 tee-shirt sitting in my closet still looks really good, but it also dates itself as six years old.
In a few more years, it’ll circle back to being retro, but I have no idea whether the material will last that long.
I say all this as I wholeheartedly recommend the new line of Disneyland 2024 merchandise, especially this shirt.
Yes, the timestamp on this immediately adds a sell-by date, which isn’t ideal.
However, we’re not even in 2024 yet, which means that if you buy this for a loved one, they’ll get a full year of use from it.
For Disneyland fanatics, that legitimately could be as many as 50 times they wear it.
You cannot keep a Disneyland local away from the park, and they want to look the part.
Also, I’ve had terrific luck with Disney apparel. It’s made of the highest quality, so I’ve found it to be comfortable and long-lasting.
I’ve legitimately got a closet full of this stuff, and this particular item features Mickey & Minnie plus Space Mountain, the Pixar Pal-A-Round, and the Incredicoaster. It’s exceptional!
Vacationing at Disneyland
Okay, this is an easy gift for us to give in that a family member lives two miles from Disneyland Resort.
So, for our family, buying this gift comes down to purchasing single-day admission or even just handing out a gift card.
Still, let’s say that YOU are the Disneyland fan on your shopping list!
You and your family deserve some joy, right? Where could you more easily find joy than at The Happiest Place on Earth?
Plus, you can win Christmas/Hanukkah in the process. All you need to do is book a Disneyland vacation and put a note from Santa under the tree!
You can tell your family what you’re giving them, and then you can spend 2024 relishing this gift that will keep on bringing you and yours happiness!
Plus, you already have that 2024 Mickey & Minnie shirt you can wear on your trip!
The best way to set up this gift is to speak with one of the experts at MickeyTravels.
