Three Pixar Films Will Finally Have Theatrical Releases in 2024
Disney recently announced the theatrical release of three of its Pixar films, Soul, Turning Red, and Luca in 2024.
The decision comes after they were originally released directly to Disney+ in 2020 and 2021. Disney has stated that they skipped the theatrical release of these films due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, with audiences largely returning to theaters, Disney believes there is now an opportunity for these films to find a wider audience on the big screen.
Pixar continues to be one of Disney’s most successful brands and the company is eager to showcase its work to audiences worldwide.
Theatrical Release Dates
Originally, Soul was released in 2020 and is scheduled to be re-released in theaters on January 12, 2024. The film features protagonist Joe Gardner (played by Jamie Fox), a middle-school band teacher who dreams of being a professional jazz player.
The film has been praised for its animation, story, and music. It won Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score and was nominated for many other awards.

Originally, Turning Red was released in 2022 and now it will have its theatrical release on February 9th, 2024. This coming-of-age story stars 13-year-old Mei Lee (voiced by Rosalie Chiang) who discovers her family’s curse, a giant red panda.
The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Its other accolades include nominations for both a Critics’ Choice Movie Award and a Golden Globe Award.

Originally, Luca was released in 2021 and will have its theatrical release on March 22nd, 2024. It is a heartwarming story about friendship, self-acceptance, and sea monsters.
The film was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. It was one of the most streamed films on Disney+ in 2021.
