Check Out How Disney Is Feeding Communities During the Holidays!
‘Tis the season to give back!
Disney celebrates the holiday season big–there’s no shortage of festive celebrations to choose from when visiting the parks. But we already know plenty about the holiday season at the resorts…so let’s check out how Disney is celebrating within the community!
Disney Feeds Communities
DisneyParksBlog gave us a peek at how Disney is feeding their communities during the holiday season! Through Disney VoluntEARS events, Disneyland Resort Cast Members are giving back to their community in Orange County. For example, on November 18th, over 200 VoluntEARS donated food to the OC Food Bank. They also participated in community projects like We Give Thanks, where they provided Thanksgiving meals to the community on Thanksgiving Day.
Disney World’s culinary team continued their 25-year-long tradition by making 1,000 meals for the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida and Harbor House of Central Florida. Disney VoluntEARS then served those meals on Thanksgiving and spent time with the families–which included some treat decorating!
Disney World Cast Members and their families also built an 8-foot-tall Orange Bird display for the CANstruction Orlando annual event, made with 11,000 cans of non-perishable foods. VoluntEARS also helped community organizations like Heart of Florida United Way by packing and serving meal kits for families.
The overseas resorts are also getting in on the fun! Disneyland Paris has started weekly food donations for local charities, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s VoluntEARS packed more than 86,000 food packets for the community alongside Rise Against Hunger, and Shanghai Disney Resort has a non-perishable food donation running.
The Disney Cruise Line has also invested in the Bahamas Feeding Network to feed families in Nassau, Abaco, and Eleuthera for the holidays. And around the United States, crew member VoluntEARS are volunteering within their communities!
We’re happy to see Disney give back so much to their communities during the holidays! And we’ll keep updating you with the latest in all things Disney, so stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com.
