NEW Haunted Mansion Prop is a Nod to Disney Legend Rolly Crump
While we wait for the appearance of the Hatbox Ghost, Disney has made a change inside the Haunted Mansion!
The Hatbox Ghost is expected to arrive in Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion in November, but in the meantime, Disney has added a tiny homage to Disney Imagineer and Legend, Rolly Crump.
Candle Man
Okay, we’ll admit that these aren’t the best photos, but it’s SUPER important not to use flash photography on the Haunted Mansion! Not only does it disrupt the ride, but it can also impact the experiences of other guests.
If you look below, you’ll see the Candle Man as a white blur on the table!
You can catch him in the attic on this small table, on the left side of your moving Doom Buggy.
As the story goes, during the development of the Haunted Mansion, Disney Imagineer Rolly Crump originally conceived of a variety of scenes involving surreal images and characters.
The idea of the Museum of the Weird was created between Crump and Walt Disney, and they originally imagined it in the lobby or even a walkthrough area of or near the Haunted Mansion. The idea was eventually scrapped, but the legend remains.
One such character that would have been included was the Candle Man, who appeared as a melting demon-like figure. This is what he looks like!
Rolly Crump passed away in March 2023, and now, eagle eyes can catch a glimpse of another one of his creations in the Haunted Mansion.
