Disney Launches ‘Ultimate Toy Drive’ To Support Toys for Tots
The Walt Disney Company launched its annual Disney Ultimate Toy Drive today, which will support the Marine Toys for Tots program.
The campaign kicked off on Good Morning America where Taylor Price shared her story.
Price, who is a coordinator for Toys for Tots in Texas, shared how she experienced homelessness as a child and received Toys for Tots.
Now a parent herself, Price explained how she was looking forward to making a difference in the lives of children this holiday season.
To thank Price for her dedication, Disney Ultimate Toy Drive helped her kick off her local campaign with a donation of shopDisney toys. They also surprised Price with tickets to see Aladdin on Broadway with her family!
Disney’s Long Toys For Tots History
Disney’s relationship with Toys for Tots began in 1947 when Walt Disney and his animators designed the logo that the organization still uses today.
Since that time, The Walt Dinsey Company has continued to support the organization by engaging volunteers and providing charitable donations.
Since its founding, Toys for Tots Marines and volunteers have delivered 652 million toys to over 291 million children.
Last year alone, the organization distributed more than 24 million toys to nearly 10 million children.
“For over 75 years, Disney has been proud to work with Toys for Tots to help deliver joy to children in need,” said Lisa Haines, senior vice president of corporate Social Responsibility, at The Walt Disney Company. “From VoluntEARS opportunities to integrations into shows across our networks, our employees and cast members in every part of the company love supporting Toys for Tots and giving back at this special time of year in ways that only Disney can.”
How To Help
Fans and families can participate in the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive by donating a toy online at shopDisney.com. The campaign will run through December 24.
Additionally, visitors can donate a new toy in person at both Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District and Disney Springs.
“It’s amazing how this relationship started with a logo and has now transformed into an annual nationwide campaign supporting children in need. Toys for Tots is grateful to have the continued support of Disney to help bring their stories to children for the holidays and deliver joy during this season of giving,” said Lieutenant General Laster, President & CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
Throughout the holiday season, Disney will also air Public Service Announcements on its television networks and streaming platforms including ABC, Disney+, Freeform, FX, Hulu, and National Geographic to support Toys for Tots.
Toy collections will also take place at Disney in-person film screenings and the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive in Playbills.
