BREAKING: Disney Announces New Senior Executive Vice President and CFO
Ahead of the fourth quarter earnings call this Wednesday, The Walt Disney Company just made a big announcement.

Back in June, Disney’s Senior Executive VP and Chief Financial Officer Christine M. McCarthy stepped down from her role, with Kevin Lansberry filling in as interim CFO. Now, Disney has officially named a new executive for this role.
Hugh Johnston Named as Senior Executive Vice President and CFO
Effective December 4, Hugh F. Johnston will assume the role of Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Walt Disney Company. Johnston has served in a variety of leadership roles over his 34-year career at PepsiCo, where he has performed the role of Chief Financial Officer since 2010.

Johnston will report directly to CEO Bob Iger, along with leading Disney’s worldwide finance organization, which includes corporate real estate, corporate strategy and business development, enterprise controllership, enterprise technology, financial planning and analysis, global product and labor standards, global security, investor relations, risk management, tax, and treasury.

According to Bob Iger, “Hugh’s well-earned reputation as one of the best CFOs in America and his wealth of leadership experience in both financial and operational roles overseeing a diverse portfolio of top global brands make him a perfect addition to Disney’s senior leadership team.
“His expertise will serve Disney and its shareholders well as we continue the transformative work we are doing to drive growth and value creation.”

Iger also extended thanks to Kevin Lansberry, who served as interim CFO following Christine McCarthy’s departure. Iger said, “I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to Kevin Lansberry, who stepped into the CFO role on an interim basis earlier this year.
“Kevin has provided steady leadership and invaluable counsel to our executive management team, and he will continue to be one of our company’s most important financial leaders as he returns to his role as CFO of our Disney Experiences segment.”
