Original Songs Revealed for New EPCOT Fireworks Show!
EPCOT has seen a lot of changes over the past few years when it comes to nighttime entertainment. We saw the end of IllumiNations, a temporary show called EPCOT Forever, and then the debut of Harmonious for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.
Now, EPCOT Forever is happening in the park again as we await a new show. This new nighttime spectacular will debut on December 5th of this year, and Disney just revealed a lot more info about the show!
Luminous The Symphony of Us
Luminous The Symphony of Us is the new nighttime spectacular coming to Disney this December! It will have fireworks, fountains, lights, and music and we’ve already seen a bunch of work happening in the World Showcase Lagoon in preparation for the show.
The show will go through different life experiences that people have in common. This will help to show that we’re more alike than we are different, according to Disney.
There will also be two new original songs that were created just for the show — “Heartbeat Symphony” and “Beating of our Hearts.” New arrangements of Disney songs you already know will also be used in Luminous.
The show will start with voices from each World Showcase pavilion welcoming everyone to the gathering. “Heartbeat Symphony” will open the show as a sweeping ballad.
Next, the show will take a look at parenthood and highlight some childhood moments set to a multilingual arrangement of “You’ll Be in My Heart.” Then, the symphony moves into “Proud Corazón” as the show devotes time to showing the bonds of family.
After family comes friendship featuring songs like “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” and “Friend Like Me.” Disney says this will take us back to “the days of recess and friendship bracelets.” We see you trying to capitalize on that Swiftie friendship bracelet trend, Disney!
We will also see romance celebrated with an arrangement of “So Close” from Disney’s Enchanted. And, moments of loss will also be commemorated with songs like “When She Loved Me” and “Remember Me.” “Into the Unknown” will wrap up this section to remind people that they’re not alone.
Taking us out of the darkness is “I See the Light,” which will then launch the show into its finale. The show will end with the other original song “Beating of our Hearts.”
Disney worked with Pinar Toprak once again on the show’s score (Pinar also worked on film soundtracks and you can hear her EPCOT anthem at night by Spaceship Earth). You might also recognize some of the vocal talent used in the songs, including singer/songwriter Sheléa and Katharine McPhee!
You can check out a behind-the-scenes look at the music being created for the show, including a sneak preview of “Heartbeat Symphony” in the video below!
Disney is calling this part of the grand finale as they finally get closer to completing the multi-year transformation of EPCOT. Stay tuned for more Disney news and updates!
