Work Continues on Grand Floridian Gingerbread House as Cast Members Hand Out Samples
Over the years, Walt Disney World has created all kinds of holiday traditions.
From Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party to Epcot’s Candlelight Processional, to the raising of the giant Christmas tree at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort.
For my money, however, the best holiday tradition in all of Walt Disney World is the creation of the giant gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.
A Grand Floridian Holiday Tradition
For those who don’t know, every year Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort erects a massive and elaborate gingerbread house in the hotel lobby.
Earlier today, we saw construction on the foundation of the gingerbread house, and now Cast Members already making big progress!

The decoration and detail on the house are amazing. The fact that it is created with real gingerbread even adds to the magic.

Construction is Underway
Artisans are diligently working on the holiday icon.

In total, they will use 1,050 pounds of honey, 140 pints of egg whites, 600 pounds of powdered sugar, 700 pounds of chocolate, 800 pounds of flour, 25 pounds of spices, and of course some Disney magic and pixie dust.

Cast Members Are Handing Out Samples
This year, as work continues on the house, Cast Members are giving out samples of the actual gingerbread that is being used to construct the structure.

According to the Cast Members we talked to, the Floridian gingerbread house will be completed on Thursday or Friday.
