The Candlelight Processional Will Once Again Return to Disneyland This December!
As part of an annual tradition that stretches back to 1958, the Candlelight Processional will return to Disneyland this December.
For many Orange Country residents, the Candlelight ceremony, with a 600-member choir, marks the start of the Christmas season.
A Disneyland Tradition
Every year, dozens of choir groups gather on stage in front of the Disneyland train station to bring the Christmas story to life.
The choirs are traditionally made up of Disney employees and members of local community choirs who perform alongside a live orchestra, handbell players, and fanfare trumpeters.
A celebrity narrator then tells the story of the first Christmas between songs. The narrator is kept a surprise until the the first show.
Past narrators have included Cary Grant, Jimmy Steward, John Wayne, Dick Van Dyke, Chris Hemsworth, Jane Seymour, and James Earl Jones.
How to Watch the Show
While any Disneyland visitors can catch the show from the standing-room-only spots behind the seating area, reserved seating is limited to invited guests.
Still, because of the popularity of the Candlelight Processional, park reservations will likely fill up quickly. Fans of the show have been known to wait on Main Street all day in order to get one of the coveted standing-room-only spots.
Affecting Other Disneyland Attractions
In the past, the Candlelight Ceremony has affected the hours of attractions including the Disneyland Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and Main Street Vehicles. So, if you plan on visiting Disneyland during December, be aware.
Some of the shops around Town Square are also affected.
