LISTEN: Disney Releases Clip of “This Is The Thanks I Get?!” From ‘Wish’
In many ways, the Disney100 celebration will culminate in the release of the latest Disney animated feature film — Wish.
The film will introduce audiences to the Kingdom of Rosas, where a 17-year-old girl senses a darkness that no one else does.
King Magnifico
The kingdom is ruled by King Magnifico, who is not only the land’s sovereign, but also their wishes. While Magnifico is a charismatic and seemingly benevolent leader, he may have more sinister intentions.
In her moment of desperation, Asha makes a passionate plea to the stars. Her wish is answered when a celestial body named Star falls to earth to grant her wish. Together, Asha and Star must stop King Magnifico and help make her people’s dreams come true.
Previewing ‘Wish’s’ Songs
Ahead of Wish‘s release, Disney is unveiling one new song from the film every Wednesday.
Last week, Disney previewed Asha’s showstopping number “This Wish.”
This week, we are turning our attention to the film’s villain, King Magnifico, and his signature song “This Is The Thanks I Get?!”.
“This Is The Thanks I Get?!”
In the song, King Magnifico sings about his own benevolence, while bemoaning that he doesn’t get more adulation.
While the peppy number fits in well with King Magnifico’s cheery facade, it also hints at the inner darkness inside him.
