Bob Iger’s Message To Cast Members on Disney’s 100th Anniversary
While The Walt Disney Company’s 100th was truly a global affair, October 16 was an especially poignant day at Disney’s headquarters.
On the big day, the company’s campus in Burbank, California celebrated in classic Disney style with music, characters, and VoluntEARS project.
One man who certainly enjoyed the day was Disney CEO Bob Iger. Wandering around Disney’s campus, he was beaming with pride at the VoluntEARS activities, and even surprised employees in the studio’s main theater ahead of a screen of Once Upon a Studio.
Bob Iger’s Message To Cast Members
During his brief remarks, Iger thanked employees, before commenting on Disney’s legacy of storytelling, innovation, and optimism.
“It’s amazing to think that our company is 100 years old today,” Iger said. “When I think about how long we’ve been around I’m reminded of the positive impact that we’ve had on the world over 100 years thanks to the great creativity that this company has managed to generate for such a long period of time.”
In an especially meaningful moment for Disney employees, Iger told those in attendance that the anniversary is “also a reminder that it’s not just about creativity. It’s about the people behind that creativity, and it’s about all of you.”
The Real Magic Behind Disney
The Disney CEO then noted that during his nearly 50 years working at The Walt Disney Company, he had a “front-row seat on the contributions, and the talent, and the commitment of all the people that have worked for this company over such a long period of time.”
“So, more than anything I want to thank all of you because the company’s ability to celebrate 100 years is due to the work of all of you,” he said.
After speaking about his “tremendous optimism” for the future of the company, Iger fittingly ended his message by wishing Disney a happy birthday.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he said in concluding his appearance. “Happy birthday to Disney on 100 years, and I’ll see you around the lot.”
