This Day in Disney History- October 6
Welcome back to our continuing journey through the history of The Walt Disney Company. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- October 6.
October 6th was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the unveiling of a new Disneyland sign, the dedication of a classic Magic Kingdom attraction, and the debut of a spooky new store. So, let’s get started!

The Sunshine Pavilion Dedicated (1973)
On this day in 1973, the Sunshine Pavilion was officially dedicated at the Magic Kingdom.

On hand for the festivities were Anita Bryant who sang “The Orange Bird Song” and Florida govenor Reubin Askew who formally opened the pavilion.
Never Cry Wolf Premieres (1983)
On this day in 1983, Never Cry Wolf premiered.

The film was based on the Farley Mowat book of the same name and starred Charles Martin, Brian Dennehy, and Zachary Ittimangnaq.
New Disneyland Sign Unveiled (1989)
On this day in 1989, the new Disneyland sign was unveiled in Anaheim.

The new sign was 50% taller than its predecessor, which had welcomed guests to the park since 1958.
Disney Flags Flown At Half-Mast (2011)
On this day in 2011, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that all Disney-operated flags would be flown at half-mast.
The lowering of the flags was done in tribute to Steve Jobs who had passed away the day before.
Memento Mori Opens (2014)
Finally, on this day in 2014, Memento Mori opened in the Magic Kingdom.
The Haunted Mansion-themed store replaced the Yankee Trader Gourmet Shop in Liberty Square.
