Two New Swashbuckling Villainous Treats Wash Up at Disney’s Beach Club
It’s October 1st, and there’s just no denying that Walt Disney World is officially rife with spooky season antics!
While the first flurries of Halloween activity crept into the Magic Kingdom all the way back in July, the start of October has signalled mischief, mayhem, and marauder across the wider Walt Disney World Resort.
Just today, our MickeyBloggers were searching for snacks at a fan-favorite resort restaurant, where it appears that the Disney Villains have totally taken over! Want to see what we found? Keep reading….
This morning, we’re over at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, where the Beach Club Marketplace is always a breezy spot to grab a quick snack or tasty treat.
However, upon approaching the bakery cabinet, our reporters were swept away by a sense of nautical unease. It looks like two beach-dwelling Disney Villains have come to place their mark on the restaurant for the spooky season!
Yep, that’s two new treats on the menu at the Marketplace, each inspired by a terrifying Disney Villain for Halloween.
We’ve got the Ursula Tart and the Captain Hook Cookie, and you bet our MickeyBlogger ordered both to review for us. Keep reading to hear whatwe thought, and decide whether you’d like to order one for yourself this spooky season!
Ursula Mousse
First up, let’s review this intriguingly purple, sea witch-inspired dessert!
Entitled the Ursula Mousse, this first dessert sounds like a delectable spin on a classic fruit tart treat. It costs $6.49.
According to the menu, it consists of a vanilla tart base, filled with layers of spice cake and chocolate ganache.
On top of this, there’s a mountain of blackberry mousse (impressively whipped to resemble Ursula’s signature hairdo,) and a scattering of blackberry pearls.
Then, to finish, we can see a tiny chocolate seashell necklace delicately placed atop the mousse, just like Ursula’s iconic necklace.
Is Ariel’s voice trapped inside today? We hope not!
Back in August, our MickeyBlog reporters tried this adorable Ariel Mousse treat from the Beach Club, released in celebration of World Princess Week.
It went down a hit among our team then, so we were interested to see whether this Ursula-inspired concoction would have a similar appeal.
Unfortunately, however, we have to tell you that our reporter wasn’t a fan of this treat at all.
Disappointingly, the mousse mountain let the dessert down, offering an unusual (and rather unpleasant) consistency akin to cottage cheese, with the blackberry pearls also not tasting anywhere near as juicy and appealing as they looked. Oh no!
We can say that the chocolatey, spicy base of the tart itself was quite tasty, but the blackberry additions were the overpowering factor here.
It’s a shame, but we’re going to have to declare this mousse a “miss” in our eyes!
Moving on now to the next treat, which we hope will be a better story….
Captain Hook Cookie
OK, second to sail onto the menu at the Beach Club Marketplace was this, the Captain Hook Cookie. Costing $6.29, it’s certainly an eye-catching dessert, but will it stand our taste test? Let’s find out!
From the menu, we know that this is a vanilla sable, which is a type of French sugar cookie.
It’s stuffed with all things wonderful here – including strawberry jam, peanut butter ganache, and puffs of vanilla buttercream.
Finished with chocolate décor pieces reminiscent of Captain Hook’s signature hook and moustache, this red, hat-shaped treat certainly did sound delicious!
But, what did our reporter think?
Well, we’re thrilled to say that while the Ursula mousse was a “miss,” this pirate-themed cookie was certainly a “hit” in our books!
Our reporter told us that the sugar cookie was perfectly dense and tasty, giving way to lashings of thick, creamy, and delicious peanut butter.
To compliment this flavor, the strawberry jam was a pleasant addition too – with the only preference being that our reporter would have preferred more of it!
All in all, this certainly was a delicious treat, and fun way of commemorating the Halloween season at the Beach Club. We’d definitely recommend this one, for sure!
So, next time you’re visiting the BoardWalk area, be sure to stop by Disney’s Beach Club to hunt for these two new villainous treats.
They’re also available over at the Beach Club’s sister resort Disney’s Yacht Club too – so you mustn’t miss out!
