Construction Continues At Muppet Courtyard — But to What End?
While Disney’s Hollywood Studios has radically changed over its 35-year history, at the heart of the park is still a love of old-fashioned entertainment and all the glitz and glamor that comes with it.
While the Studio Backlot Tour, The Magic Of Disney Animation, and even The Great Movie Ride have all become part of the past, Muppet Vision 3D has continued to chug along and deliver Vaudevillian entertainment for 33 years now.
Because MuppetVision 3D has remained a bastion of old-fashioned fun, even as the world around it has drastically changed, Muppet fans live in fear that the attraction will go away.
Speculation Around Muppet Vision’s Future
Thus, any construction around Muppet Courtyard is viewed with suspicious eyes.
Panaroia surrounding MuppetVision reached a climax in 2017 when Disney announced that it would be creating Grand Park out of some of the land that formally made up Muppet Land.
For those pre-disposed to see their favorite attraction in danger, it seemed like the writing was on the wall and Muppet Vision’s days were numbered.
Luckily, those fears proved to be unfounded and Muppet Vision continues to entertain guests today.
A New Structure in Muppet Courtyard
Earlier this fall, however, new fears arose when construction began on a new structure inside Muppet Courtyard.
With construction walls blocking off the area in front of PizzaRizzo, fans began to worry about the future of the Muppets.
Once again, however, it appears that any fears for the Muppet’s future were unfounded.
As construction has continued in Muppet Courtyard, it looks like Disney is building some kind of new small structure.
Based on the size of the new building, it seems safe to surmise that this will be a new stand.
As of today, construction on the new structure seems fairly far along. You can see the building rising above the construction walls.
Miss Piggy Fountain Remains Blocked Off
In related Muppet news, the iconic Miss Piggy fountain located at the heart of Muppet Courtyard continues to be obstructed by planters.
While Fozzie, Gonzo, and Animal were removed from the fountain in 2017, the water feature remains an iconic part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Now, the Miss Piggy figure has also been removed.
At this time it is unclear what DIsney’s plans are for the fountain.
