Meat, Beer, & Bloody Marys at EPCOT’s Char & Chop
The 2023 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival has been happening since late July, and we’ve been able to eat a bunch of delicious items and drink some questionable concoctions. The festival runs all the way until November 18th, so you have time to check out everything it has to offer.
This year, there are 4 new food booths in honor of The Walt Disney Company’s 100th Anniversary. These booths didn’t open with most of the others back in July, but instead, they’re opening today!
Char & Chop
Char & Chop is an entirely new booth this year, so their menu is all new as well! The booth is located across from Disney Traders, near the entrance to the World Showcase.
If it wasn’t obvious by the name, the booth focuses on meat. But, don’t worry, there’s a dish here for people who don’t eat meat as well!
Here’s a look at the menu:
We started with the Roasted Porchetta with lemon-parsley salsa verde and shaved fennel salad for $6.25.
This had a great pork flavor and was nice and juicy. The salsa verde added a lot of freshness, as did the onions and arugula.
Next, we got the Grilled IMPOSSIBLE Spicy Sausage with herbed polenta, puttanesca sauce, and ricotta for $6.
This was a good sausage but it definitely was a bit spicy, so watch out for the heat!
The herbed polenta and puttanesca sauce both very flavorful and go well with the sausage. The ricotta also helps cool things down a bit!
The last food item available over here is the Meat Assorti for $6.75. This is a trio of shaved meats with baby arugula, pickled mustard seeds, truffle oil, and grilled ciabatta.
This is just some good ol’ sliced, cured meat with crusty bread. The whole grain mustard works well with it, but it’s nothing you couldn’t recreate at home.
Now, let’s move on to the beverages! There are a few beers available over here, a beer flight, a wine, and a cocktail.
All of the beers are new. The ones available are the Krombacher Pilsner, the North Coast Laguna Baja Vienna Lager, and the Motorworks Brewing Midnight Espresso Coffee Porter.
You can get each beer for $5.50 for a 6 oz. or $9.50 for a 12 oz., or get a flight with all 3 beers for $10.
Going from lightest to heaviest: The Vienna Lager tasted similar to a Yuengling Lager to us, the Pilsner was just like a traditional pilsner (which was very good!), and the Porter had great coffee flavors.
We enjoyed all of the beers, but the Porter was definitely our favorite! You should especially like it if you like coffee.
We also got the Bloody Mary with Seaside Grown Bloody Mary Mix and Kurvball Barbecue Whiskey for $11.
The Bloody Mary was not our favorite. It was kind of watered down which took a lot of the flavor away.
What we did like about it was that there’s a sausage in the top of the drink! The sausage was delicious.
Finally, you can get the GoGi ‘Birdie’ Pinot Noir for $16 as a red wine option.
So overall, this is a great booth if you want something meaty and hearty, are looking for some darker beers, or want a Bloody Mary. The dishes are definitely shareable too!
