FIRST LOOK: Pollo Guisado and Passion Fruit Tres Leches at All Star Sports
If you’ve been following along with us here at MickeyBlog you’ll know that yesterday Disney unveiled a delectable array of new eats and treats in celebration of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month. With that in mind, our MickeyBlogger Melissa popped over to the End Zone Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort to try out both the Pollo Guisado and Passion Fruit Tres Leches.
Both of these dishes will be available through October 15th so pop over to the End Zone Food Court at All-Star Sports and give these a try during your visit!
First up is the Pollo Guisadol. Perfect for Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, this dish was the end product of a collaboration between Sous Chef Yanira at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort and Sous Chef Berto of Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
This dish features Braised Chicken, Carrots and Olives, Jasmine Rice, Sweet Plantains, and Fried Garlic Cilantro.
This dish retails for $12.29.
Our MickeyBlogger Melissa said that this dish was pretty good.
She said the chicken in the Pollo Guisado was nice and tender and wasn’t over-cooked or dry.
However, the rice was plentiful compared to the sauce in the dish which does result in this dish being a bit on the dry side.
That being said, Melissa felt that the flavors came together nicely. But, she was waiting for a bit of a spicy kick that just wasn’t there.
Though the Pollo Guisado wasn’t our favorite of the Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month dishes we tried, it is such a welcome addition to the End Zone Food Court menu. It’s nice to see more eclectic dishes crop up at Disney’s quick service spots.
Next up is the new sweet treat added to the menu, the Passion Fruit Tres Leches with a Guava Mickey! This is also on the menu at the End Zone Food Court through October 15th.
This treat features a Tres Leches Cake base. For those unfamiliar a Tres Leche Cake features a combination of whole milk, condensed milk and evaporated milk.
Whipped frosting adds the finishing touches as well as both a Guava Mickey and Passion Fruit Drizzle.
The Passion Fruit Tres Leches retails for $5.29.
Melissa said that this dessert was very moist but its lack of flavor was a disappointment.
She said that she was expecting more of a passion fruit taste but that just wasn’t there with this dessert.
The dominant flavor here was vanilla with a hint of Guava from the Mickey on top.
However, this treat is still a good option for those looking for something simple and delicious.
Again both the Passion Fruit Tres Leches and the Pollo Guisado are available as part of the Hispanic and Latin Heritage Month Menu now available at the End Zone Food Court through October 15, 2023
