Jonathan Majors’s Judge Sets Next Hearing Date
The next key court date has been set in Jonathan Majors’s domestic violence trial.
During a Friday hearing, Judge Michael Gaffey decided on October 25th for the next hearing date after talking to both Majors’s defense team and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
On September 12, Majors’s legal team filed a motion to dismiss the case. The D.A.’s office must respond to that motion by October 6th, after which the defense team will have a week to file their response.
Judge Gaffey confirmed that Majors can appear virtually for the next hearing, but he must attend in person once the trial begins.
Majors’ Legal Woes
Majors is facing misdemeanor charges of harassment and assault after he was arrested in Manhattan on March 25. He was accused by his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari of assaulting her.
Police responded to a 911 call and noted that Jabbari had minor injuries to her head and neck. She was treated at the hospital for her injuries.
Majors and his attornies have denied the allegations and instead asserted that Majors was the victim.
The Marvel star’s trial was initially supposed to start on August 3 but was delayed because the prosecution was still in the process of obtaining discovery. On September 6, the prosecution was ready for trial, but the defense asked for a delay.
The new hearing date of October 25, means that Majors’s trial will now stretch into the release of Loki‘s Season 2. Majors is set to appear as a variant of Kang the Conqueror for the first time since his legal woes began. Season 2 of Loki debuts on October 8.
