Things You May Not Have Known About Haul-O-Ween at Disney California Adventure
The Halloween Season has officially arrived at Disneyland Resort and that means that Cars Land AKA Radiator Springs is getting in on the fun with its Annual Haul-O-Ween Celebration. Each year Lightning McQueen, Mater, and the rest of the gang pull out all of the stops to celebrate the spooky season. With that in mind, and because Cars Land should definitely be on your must-do list, here are some awesome fun facts about this awesome area of Disney California Adventure.
For those unfamiliar, Haul-O-Ween takes place in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure from September 1 – October 31, 2023. The local residents of Radiator Springs decorate the neighborhood in celebration and don their favorite “car-stumes.” In addition, two family friend attractions get a Halloween makeover. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters becomes Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.
Get Ready to Meet Scary the Scare-car
Have those cameras at the ready when entering “Radiator Screams.” Near the entrance to the land you’ll find Scary the Scare-car one hand to pose for Halloween pictures. If you want to find out more about Spooky’s origin story, head to the queue for Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-Oween which provides you with a bit of backstory.
Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree Gets a Spooktacular Halloween Soundtrack
As you spin around Mater’s Graveyard have a listen for fun mash-ups of some of your favorite Halloween tunes including “Monster Mash” which becomes”Monster Truck Smash” and “Purple People Eater which becomes “Purple Fender Bender.”
Sarge Presides Over a Seasonal Pumpkin Patch
One of my favorite bits of Haul-O-Ween decor in Cars Land is Sarge’s patch of seasonal pumpkins. If you look closely you’ll notice that these are actually gas cans! Rumor has it that once ripe, hell pass these over to Filmore to make “organic fuel.”
Be On the Lookout for the Creative Car-Stumes
The residents of Cars Land really get into the spirit of the season with Car-stumes that are nothing short of adorable. Above you can see Mater as a “van-pire” and Lightning McQueen as a superhero. Also be on the lookout for Cruz Ramirez in a pirate costume and Red the Fire Truck as a circus clown!
Look Into the Lobby at the Cozy Cone Motel for a Seasonal Surprise
Pop by the Cozy Cone Motel and take a look at the lobby. You’ll notice that Sally has been hard at work crafting a miniature model of the motel that is made of candy.
How Many Car-Achnids Can You Find?
Rumor has it that there are 30 car-achnids lurking around Radiator Screams. The most noticeable one is in the courtyard at Flo’s V8Cafe. In an awesome bit of Disney-lore, this spooky creation was actually made from a repurposed Toadmobile from Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride at Disneyland!
It’s a Zombie…Car!
Look at the front yard of Lizzie’s Radiator Springs Curios where you’ll find an out-of-service “zombie” car. It has an “undead” battery and refuses to “rust in pieces.” Be careful, we’re told it likes to come to life once the sun goes down!
Can I Get a Sha-Boo!?
Each Haul-O-Ween, Cars Land is taken over by supernatural spirits each evening for a haunting Sha-BOO! The Sheriff’s voice arrives on the scene to return the town to order and welcome guests to Radiator Screams.
Luigi’s Favorite Holiday
Luigi was a stranger to Halloween before moving to Radiator Springs but now its his favorite holiday! Head to his tire shop to find out more about how Luigi and Guido built the towns first Scar-Car Scary!
Radiators Spring’s Mysterious Horn-O-Plenty
Another great photo-op at Radiator Screams is this fun floral display. According to lore, this was unearthed on the property back in 1936. Each year, local residents make it a centerpiece of the celebration and adorn it with seasonal gifts!
A Mad Scientists Wreaks Havoc on the Old Courthouse
Something isn’t right at the Radiator Springs Courthouse. A made scientist has hooked jumper cables up to the building bringing it to life in strange ways. Just check out those moving eyes in the window!
A Frightfully Delightful Array of Eats and Treats
Get ready for a tempting menu of Halloween eats and treats. Throughout Cars Land you’ll find some goodies that you can only get during Haul-O-Ween including Slow Burnin’ Mac and Cheese Cone, Spicy Chicken and Fries and the Candy Corn Churro!
Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos With Ramone
Ramone is also celebrating the Day of the Dead at Radiator Springs. Pop over to his House of Body Art to see his Sugar Car complete with colorful artwork!
